Immigrant Parents as Literacy Supporters
IPALS
Immigrant Parents as Literacy Supporters (IPALS) is a free family literacy program designed for families with children aged 3-5 who are permanent residents or have refugee status. IPALS prepares children for school while equipping parents and caregivers with effective strategies to support English language development and literacy skills.
The Vancouver School Board (VSB) will offer two IPALS programs, each consisting of 9 sessions, starting in January 2025. Sessions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at the Early Learning Centre at MacKenzie Elementary, located at 960 East 39th Avenue, Vancouver.
A nutritious snack and take home learning materials will be provided at each session.
