Vancouver District Students' Council (VDSC)
The Vancouver District Students’ Council (VDSC) is a committee of student representatives from all secondary schools in Vancouver.
The VDSC’s mandate is to provide student input in the planning and decision-making of the district. It is also an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, work collaboratively with students from other schools on pertinent educational issues, contribute to the Vancouver School District and learn about decision-making and policy development.
VDSC EXECUTIVE
The VDSC executive body has 18 student members who plan, organize and execute all VDSC business and projects. The executive includes a president, vice-president, secretary, communications officer, student issues officer, student events officer, public relations officer, alternate school officer, IT officer, and one executive member on each district Standing Committee (I-V). The executive positions are elected annually at the VDSC general meeting in September.
VDSC GENERAL BODY
The VDSC general body includes all 18 secondary schools, each school sending:
1 District representative (a student preferably in a senior grade elected to their own student council in the role of VDSC liaison)
1 School representative (preferably a student in the junior grades whose selection is determined at the school level - often a volunteer or appointment)
