Ms. Conley Is Retiring!
Dear Graham Bruce Families,
With just four days left in the school year, there’s a lot happening at our school! Our teachers and staff are wrapping up with a variety of activities, including exciting field trips. Yesterday, we had the pleasure of thanking our amazing parent volunteers. Your ongoing support and involvement in school events and activities are truly appreciated—thank you!
I’d also like to take a moment to share that Ms. Conley has decided to retire this year. We will miss her greatly and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. Please see her bio below.
Finally, this e-News includes important documents to help you prepare for the next school year.
Thank you!
Ms. Tanya Conley Is Retiring!
Ms. Conley has always loved learning. From a young age she knew she wanted to travel and see the world. Her childlike curiosity has stayed with her all her life, and she knows this has been an asset in her relational approach to teaching. She’s been described as a dynamic and creative educator who thrives in a collaborative working environment.
Ms. Conley embarked on her teaching career doing workshops in photography and art in schools around the lower mainland. While completing her BFA AT EMILY Carr in 1999, she decided to apply to UBC Teacher Program. She completed the program in 2006 and began working in SD43 initially and then joined the VSB in 2009. During her almost 20-year teaching career, she has taught secondary Fine Arts, English and Drama, and later in the upper intermediate grades (4-7). She has always loved to weave drama performance into her practice which not only enhances collaboration, language and literacy skills, it also builds confidence. Ms. Conley is a mother of two grown children and two very active dog children! She is excited to go on a new adventure to a place she dreamed of forever: Egypt! She is looking forward to delving into this new and vibrant teaching experience in Cairo and hopes to retain her connection with the awesome staff and community of Graham Bruce through pen pals with her new school. She will truly miss the students, families and staff of Bruce elementary and will never forget her amazing experiences she’s had with students over the years!
